Alexander Radulov, the Nashville Predators' best forward, and a young up and comer in the National Hockey League, has decided to blow off the last year of his contract with the Predators, and leave for the Russian Superleague. This comes only one day after the NHL, IIHF, and Russia came to an agreement stating that neither league would dishonor the other's contracts, or in simpler terms, steal players from the other league.
We all know that some Russian hockey people are dirty liars, but this is just outrageous.
TSN broke the news this morning.
These developments do seem to beg the question of what Radulov was thinking. He backstabbed an organization that gave him a legitimate shot to be a star in this league. He puts the Predators in a position to fail for the forseeable future of the franchise.
But this move may prove to have implications far worse for Nashville than just on ice success.
I'm sure word has gotten back to my audience by now, but the Nasvhille Predators future in Tennessee is very much in doubt, and more doubtful now that its best young asset has defected to Russia. The Predators seemed likely to be on the move, possibly to Hamilton, Ontario, even before Radulov left, and now it appears a real probability that this team will be leaving.
A selish act on the part of Radulov.
Now we'll see what effect this has on the future of the Predators.
Peace.

The Russian League movement is really stupid. I'm getting annoyed that anyone even considers going there. Really the Russian League? So when you don't want to play with the best of the best players in the world (or in some cases if your not good enough), you decide I'll still get to play the game I love, I'll make extra money, and I look better because the lower quality of talent. It made sense why Jagr left for Russia ... meaning he's older and he didn't have that long in the League anyways. But Radulov, I was a bit surprised. That kinda makes me mad too. I like Nashville (helps that they're in the West) and he's a talented player. But I think Jason Arnott is Nashville's best forward but he's 33.
If Radulov decides he wants to come back and he gets a contract, I will be rooting against him. What a lack of character!
kaspar your right. What was he thinking?
@BigK: Mirtle's saying the NHL is going to fight over him staying because the NHL and Russian League had an agreement ... this is going to get interesting. And if the NHL brings him back because of the agreement (which I think might happen), how will he perform? He's got a year left in his contract, and if he performs well he might get more money here. But who would want someone who doesn't want to be there at all? Is he going to act like a brat if the NHL manages to keep him here for the remainder of his contract? I don't like this at all ... Radulov is causing problems when they supposedly sorted things out ...
Also on your youtube page, I saw that PhillyFreak said the Browns are going to win our division ... hahahahaha!!! And that hockeydude should stay away from sports ... I think he doesn't know anything about sports ... tell him to take up knitting, he might understand it better ...
