The Pittsburgh Penguins started the 2008-2009 campaign flying, but have since cooled of dramatically, and now in tenth place in the Eastern Conference, two points out of a playoff spot.
Let's take a look at their competition for the eight and final playoff spot, shall we?
-Florida Panthers
-currently in ninth place
-three games in hand on the Penguins
-one point ahead of the Penguins with 58 points
-three remaining games against the Penguins
-Carolina Hurricanes
-currently in eight place
-one game in hand on the Penguins
-two points ahead of the Penguins with 59 points
-one remaining game against the Penguins
*Note- If the Pens win that game, they own the head to head tiebreaker
It will be interesting to see how things play out down the stretch.
